We are living in a very busy world where everything is moving too fast. We often encounter many challenges and problems in life that make us feel tired, restless, and burned out. Indeed, stress has become one of the major health problems that threaten the human body today.
Stress is a serious health condition which must be prevented since it can result to more serious health problems like diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure, and even cancer. Moreover, stress can greatly affect your performance especially in your job.
So how does stress affect health?
• Stress lowers the body’s resistance
Do you wonder why you easily get sick even if you eat the right kinds of food? Do you feel like your body easily becomes weak? You may not be aware of it but it is stress affecting your health. Stress can lower your body’s resistance because your cells are no longer functioning well. You’re body is always under a lot of pressure that it finds it so hard to repair itself and reenergize.
• Stress makes you more prone to diseases
Once your body’s resistance slows down because of stress, you are more prone to other more serious diseases. Studies proved that stress when not treated immediately can lead to high blood pressure, diabetes, and many more. Further, it can also cause severe damage to your other organs like the liver, kidney, and the heart.
• Stress results to poor work performance
How do you expect yourself to perform your best in your job when your body is under a lot of stress? If you are always tired and weak, you will never be able to concentrate on your job nor do your best in your assigned tasks. Stress will pull you down and it can lose you your job.
Stress is very harmful to your health and can affect your work performance too. Use your time wisely, eat the right food, and relax once in a while to keep your body free from stress.
