Personal Development Plan
How to Create Your Plan Effectively

alt text

A personal development plan is a map of your personal growth journey. A goal is so much easier to reach when you have a plan. What is personal development? Among other things, it involves identifying the skills you need to learn, the aspects of yourself that needs to be improved, abilities that are you lacking and areas which needs to be given focus for improvement. Having a plan helps us ensure that we stay focused and continually improve ourselves to prevent this complacency.

Here are the 4 parts of my plan:

1. Create a personal mission statement. This mission statement helps clarify what’s really important to you and where you want to go.

2. Set Goals. Identify short-term and long-term objectives that would help you to achieve the changes you want and need to make to realize the life and lifestyle you have designed.

3. Take action. Putting your goals into action is the most difficult step in improving yourself. Nevertheless, you can make it somehow easier and simpler by just starting with small steps one at a time.

4. Be responsible. Be responsible in everything and anything that you do. Accept all your shortcomings wholeheartedly and promise yourself to make everything correctly the next time around. In doing so, you can easily accept any possible failures and simply move forward.

As you begin to apply these steps you will not only begin to be able to define a plan; you will understand how to put it into action.

Take a look at this example personal development plan as a reference to help you construct your plan. This example is just a sample. Your objectives and approach may be vastly different from it. So use it as a guide and suggestion. After you have seen what it looks like, get this FREE personal development plan template and start planning for your personal growth.
