What is Success? 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
What is success? “Success” to some people may be different from others’ perspective of success. Success can be winning an award at the Olympic Games or being awarded a Nobel prize. Success can mean “long lasting marriage” to some people; while to others it can mean “to become wealthy”. The definition for success depends on what you are looking for in life.
In a broader perspective, the definition of What is Success that can also express most definitions of the word is 'to set out to do something and to succeed in doing it'. This “something” could be material or emotional satisfaction.
Each of us has goals set for ourselves. Even at a very young age you already think of the things you want to achieve in life and how you can reach them. However, success can only be measured on how well you set your goals. As people aspiring for success, you subscribe to different ways of goal setting.
While success is often referred to as realizing what you planned, success is also a journey. To motivator Tom Hopkins, success is the continuous journey towards the achievement of predetermined worthwhile goals. And, like any journey, to succeed is to be prepared to go through “storms” to your dream destination. Seeing success as a “process” or “journey” helps you see glory with each little step you take towards your goals. Envision yourself climbing up a ladder. The happier you become with each careful step you take to get closer to your goal.
But you must be able to distinguish “what is success” from “what is accomplishment”. Success is not just an accomplishment. It’s beyond that. Accomplishment is the positive result of your actions or efforts. But daily or constant accomplishments can lead you to your ultimate goal and once this is reached, it means you succeed.
To most people, success is the sum of the string of accomplishments you have done. What is success? If success to you is “wealth”, daily accomplishments of earning what you planned to achieve leads you to what success is to you.
Everyone wants success but only a few succeed. Why? It’s either because they don’t know how to set their goals and make a map to find “success” or they have the “map” but are not willing to go through the rough journey.
What is success? Most people know what “success” is to them. But when seeing the rough road to that destiny, they get discouraged and say, “Oh, I don’t have time to do that stuff” or “I am busy right now. I will just do it next year”. But what if “success” only knocks once on your door?
If happiness is your goal, then allot time every day to accomplish the things that make you happy. Believe in “carpe diem”, a Latin expression that means “seize the day” because the reality is that what you are or what you have right now is exactly what you will be or will have on your last day here. Is this what you want and is this what you call “success”? If so, congratulations! If not, then you can start working now to create a “successful” ending.
What is the meaning of success? The meaning of success may come in many forms, depending on what you are looking for or what you want in life. To know the true Meaning of Success, is actually the key step to achieving success.
